Another high idle.
I saw some older posts regarding this isue, but figured I would try to get some new thoughts.. I have a 92 with a 5.8. It screams at idle. Replaced the idle control valve, pcv. And I searched for vac leaks ect and cant find the problem. I have heard mention of looking for codes, but not sure how to do that. Any ideas? Tried unplugging the The new idle control vave and the idle dropped down, but then the fuel pump relay blew.

Have you checked your plenum gasket, and lower intake gaskets? Had a guy with the same problem at the store where I work. I told him it was probably un-metered air entering the engine. He changed his broken vacuum lines with no apparent results. Take a can of carb cleaner and spray it around the intake manifold gaskets while it is running. If it accelerates then it's the gasket that you just sprayed. I'd check the intake gaskets myself though.
