Hey there folks. I'm a newby, so be gentle. Ok, here's my question... I gotta 1990 f-150 4x4 runnin 31 inch tires and 1 1/2'' lift... but i got no power to play with. I have the big 300 inline 6, so I know i'm not starting with huge numbers, but i'd still like to have a little bite in my bark. I've seen lots of ads for those el-cheapo supercharger that supposedly add 35 ponies, but i really doubt those. Just wondering if there are other bolt-ons i could do to increase kick.
What gears are in it (front and rear axles)? Your tires are larger than stock, which would give the effect of robbed power if the gears weren't similarly upgraded.
About the only thing you can do to increase horsepower ratings on the 300's is to get some better flowing exhaust. Like Jroehl was saying up there, gears will make all the difference with those oversized tires.
I think the gears are 4.10 or 4.11, what ever it would be, but could be mistaken. Seem pretty tall, revs higher than my other I6 at the same speed. Haven't checked with Ford Service yet though. But your saying that exhaust helps? Thanks, that was my next thought. Thanks guys.
