Ok I bought a 1988 F-250 4x4 with a 351, off a buddy of mine who just needed to get rid of it, picked her up for about 400 bucks. She's got a hole under the driver side of the bench (just needs sheet metal welded in, easy) and some TINY rust by the back wheel wells. I had to replace the steering box which I pulled from a junk Bronco, replaced the brake lines, and I bled the brakes. No air in the lines, plenty of fluid but i still dont have much of a brake pedal. I can deal with that but my main problem is she has trouble starting and under ANY throttle she bogs down and backfires. I know the battery, and altternator are screwed, I'm replacing them soon, but with f-250 diesel jumping it, i have to spray ether in the intake to get her to turn over, and like i said, after she's fired over, if i do anything but even press the throttle, she BOGS down BAD. She can move a little, but uphills, its 5mph if she doesnt stall out. She's an automatic BTW. She's got some holes in the exhaust by the headers i need to weld shut but thats about the gist of the problem. I was thinking injecters, but i threw a ton of cleaner in and let her idle through a half tank of gas (all that was in it when i dumped in the cleaner) Then I thought it could be the gas itself, so i put half a tank of 92 octane in her. same deal. So now i'm thinking throttle positioning senor, but I'm not sure. I'm alright with mechanics but once we get into sensor's i'm still a newbie. I wouldn't mind some input or some other things to check.
changed fuel filter, airfilter is soso plugs cap and rotor are new, fuelpumps new and good, batter cables are good, but like i said the battery is bad. she gets enough juice froma jump to start though.
