Do you all have any suggestions for reaching the distributor hold-down bolt on a 1978 F-250 with air conditioning? The wrench I tried was fairly slim. I could get to the bolt head, but I didn't have enough arc to loosen the bolt, and I couldn't slide the wrench under the vacuum advance (there is very little clearance). There doesn't seem to be enough room to put a socket over the bolt, so I don't think I have a tool that will get to it. Is there a better method I should try, or is there a tool I can purchase for this?
Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide,
Joel
How about a distributer wrench available at any auto parts store for under 10 bucks.Or take a wrench heat it up with a torch and bend it.You also might try a socket and some swivels.
I have one that has a 1/2" and a 9/16" box end offset wrench. Bought it 20 years ago and it still comes in handy at times. I got it specifically for a 1977 351M with a/c, but will likely work with any engine that has the compressor interference.
