cel after snow storm

ever since we had that snow/tree storm here in buffalo a week ago, my cel has been coming on for a minute and then goes off and back on for a minute.

I am guessing something underneath got hit or something......prob the o2 sensor.

How do you check the codes without taking it to a place and getting ripped off?

thanks

Advance Auto should be able to pull the codes for free. AutoZone gave me a load of BS last time I tried to take an OBD-I car to them and told me they couldn't do it. But you could try your local location.

Call or go to any of your local shops and ask them to pull codes, most will do it for free assuming that you're dumb and will just buy whatever they tell you to aftewords. Instead, bring us the codes and we'll go from there.

1. Buy Haynes manual
2. Buy analog multimeter (not necesary)
3. Buy paperclip (or two) and unwind it and ground diagnostic terminals.
4. Read manual and pull codes.

Oh, it's more than likely NOT the O2 sensor that is the actual problem. Apologies for tossing that curveball at you...
