I always recommned the SuperDuty Motorcraft batteries for diesel engines. Probably because they're so close at hand. Good batteries, a little better than regular Motorcraft.
Optima yellow tops gets my vote too. Never used a better battery for the trolling motor in my boat. 3-4 days before having to charge it--that's about 30 miles of water with a 55 amp current draw and you don't have to worry about the acid spilling/leaking anywhere. The downside is the price, but you get what you pay for here.
what about the marine batteries, they look like they would provide atleast the starting power of the stock batteries, with a deep cycle capability...... any thoughts?
Optima's, Odyssey, way to much over kill on batteries you guy's, I am thinking. Diehards & Intersates have better warrenties, can be replaced practically anywhere, and are less than 1/2 the price.
The PC-1500 is around $189.00. Click the Distributor link on their website or call them for the closest place to purchase. I don't know if any FTE sponsors carry them. They have a 4-year warranty, typical service life is 6 to 8 years. The Odysseys were originally designed for military applications.
I thought that the Optima Yellow Top was a deep cycle battery meant for marine use only. Can you tell me why I should put two of the Optima Yellow Top batteries instead of the Red Top Optima batteries in my 6.0 - 2005 Ford Diesel?
