Hey guys, this is the first time I've posted a topic on here, but I do enjoy reading about other topics and gaining knowledge. My problem is really just a pet peeve, if you will. I have a 1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition with just over 130,000 miles. So far we've had very few problems with it and it continues to chug along. Now that it is cold, and I often times wear shorts in the winter, I have noticed that the heated seats do not relay heat. Is there any relatively easy fix without replacing the seats? Also, how could I do it and what parts would be needed?
Heated or heated/cooled? You can pull back the seat covers on the heated seats and replace the elemnt with ease. The heated/cooled seats are a bit more difficult as they use a different methodology.
My seats are just heated. How hard should it be to peel the seat covers back and get them to look right? I'm guessing you leave the leather intact with the seat cushion and the element is underneath? Can I get the element at a Ford dealership or do I have to order it off a website?
I have the same issue as well - driver's seat is no longer heating (heat only seat) for my 2000 Exp. My plan is to study on it this weekend. I'm interested in what happens here and will share what I find out.
It's actually pretty easy. After the seat is out flip it over. You'll see how the material is attached to the frame with these little rings. Pull them apart and peel the seat cover back. Goes back together the same way.
are you getting power to the control switch? if so the element is bad, if not i simple run a seperate wire from the fuse box to the power connection under the seat. i can give you more details if you wish.
