I was getting my 30K mile service done on my truck and told them when it was cold it ran rough for about a minute and the would run fine. They re-flased the tuck and it seems to have taken care of the problem. It has been several days and so far all is well. Just sort of an fyI now that it is getting colder.
Glad to know it works better now... please post model, year and other data so some one can search and find what fixed yours, in case they have rough running problem also
It is a 2005 V10 F250 CC short box auto (torque-shift) 4.10 gear. It would run for about a minute extremely rough. The first few seconds it ran OK then about 40-70 seconds rough and would jerk if you tried to drive. I noticed the problem last year but it was not too bad and the weather warmed up and I forgot about it. So far the MPG seems about the same and I think it changed the shift points because it is a little bit more responsive. They said the the flash was to address that specific problem and had been out for several months.
I was nervous because I monitor the PSD forum (to keep them honest when they bash the v10) and I have seen many horror stories about re-flashes. It is a little too early for me to say for sure but so far I am glad that I had it done. The truck seems to drive a little bit better over all, and I had no complaints except for the rough running at start up before.
Mine does the same thing (same year/model, actually) - just had it in to the dealer, they said FoMoCo is aware of the problem but doesn't have a fix yet? Maybe my dealer needs to talk to yours!
Your dealer says FoMoCo is aware but no fix yet???...
Your service provider /manager is not very good at the old computer then... find a polite way to have him/her search better, or find a competent dealer...
dockrocker, not sure where you are at but the dealer was Sessler Ford in Libertyville, IL. It says Clear-Reprogramed PCM-New# 6C 3A-12A560-DDB on the ticket. All tests passed and mode 6 operations-OK-ALL.
Not sure if that helps but perhaps your dealer could see if you were at thid version or newer.
