I have just made the change myself.... motor only for now... from the feedback I get from users, benefits won't be noticeable till the 2nd go around.. the company I work for just took on the product for resale, since I can get a better deal on it that helped in deciding factor... $7.49 a qt. @ the parts store is a bit steep.....
These types of things that may not jump out at you like increased MPG, etc.
As for Royal Purple...I have heard nothing bad. Good products.
Although, so are....
Amsoil
Redline
Mobil 1
Torco
etc...
I drive everything like I stole it. Thus, I run synthetic in EVERYTHING!. I run'em hard, so I maintain them well.
Lets not forget, particulate filtering is as important as the proper lubricant. Do not just convert to synthetic and think that you can change your oil once a year, etc. While I am exaggerating, you know where I am coming from.
From day 1.. 40 yrs. ago.. I have always changed my motor oil every 2,000 to 2,500 miles... the RP rep. suggested to run a 3K do a complete change.. then do a 3K filter change & refill.. the @ the next 3K do a complete change.. and just keep that cycle going..... it's gonna be hard for me to leave any oil in there that long....
For 20+ years I was a 3K oil change zealot. A few years ago I switched to synthetic and sent a few oil samples out for analysis, ($10/sample). I'm now running 10K oil change intervals and could easily go to 15K based on the analysis.
My recommendation to the folks doing short oil changes - spend $10 and get a sample analyzed, then set your oil change interval based on science. You'll save a ton of money, labor and think of the environmental savings - less waste oil.
I can vouch for M1 and Rotella. My gas vehicles get MobilOne full syn, EP 5W30 and the diesels Rotella full syn 5W40. Great cold starts, extended oil change durations and a bump in the gas mileage.

My oil samples go to OilGuard a CA outfit. Under $2 in postage and they are quick to test and post your results. Sample packs are $10 in a 6 pack, (they were last time I ordered).
I'm sticking with MobilOne synthetic in my gassers and Rotella synthic in my diesels. Also running OEM oil filters.
Using the Motorcraft syth blend and changed at the proper intervals will give you the protection needed. Going to Royal Purple will just cost you money out of your pocket!
The only thing the experts agree on when it comes to synthetics is the prolonged oil change interval. No one has any specific proof that a full synthetic against a syth blend will offer you anymore protection. So why not stay with MC syth blend save your money, change at the specified intervals and enjoy the ride!
Oil these days is way above where it was 10 years ago! So you have to seperate the myth, as long as you change the oil at the specific intervals!
