BEFORE I get hate mail for asking a Chevy question note that this question is for my stepfather's truck NOT mine. I (not surprised) can't find a group like this for Chevy trucks but I thought someone here might could help.
Problem: 1993 fullsize that has a froze radio. it is on 98.1 and the clock is at 1:00. He was trying to adjust the time and it locked up. I have pulled the fuse, tried the "unlock" code thing for Chevy radios and a few things short of a hammer! The unit will power on and off, set button works, but nothing happens and I am clueless....
Any help would be great as he cannot listen to his favorite stations while driving.
It's dead, the truck radios had issues. My grandfather had to have his replaced in his 98 as well, and the dealership said it was common. For a cheaper source, Ken in atlanta has new, old stock replacements for chevy radios. Last invoice I got from him the business was called K&B industries (his way of preventing package theft.)
not to be a bad reference -- but gm-trucks.com is an awesome site for GM trucks -- granted ford trucks rock all OVER chevys and gmcs... but gm-trucks.com should be able to answer chevy questions since its the same deal...

I'll second that. Like this site, they have alot of people that really care and put alot of effort into helping people.
I'd also say the radio may be dead. I'm pretty sure a '93 fullsize wouldn't have been equipped with Theftlock, besides if it were locked it should display "LOC" on the display. If not mistaken, didn't these radios have the electronics part separate from the buttons and display on the dash? If so, maybe the cable that interconnects the two has a faulty connection.
Anyway, ask the question at gm-trucks.com They would be better able to help.
