Has anyone just taken the Cat off and beat the material out of it and put it back on. (intant cat-delete) I seem to remember one of the threads stating that this created some kind of funny back pressure problem. If this would cause a problem...how so? 6.0 totally stock 2006. Back in the day... when I lived on a farm... cat-delete had another meaning... but that is for another forum!
not sure about the backpressure issue because once it leaves the turbo it does not matter. i do know that a funny sound occurs when you hollow out a cat because the exhaust is rattling around in the space.
Also, warranty problems might be an issue if you ruin your cat...
If the dealer can ever claim that the lack of backpressure messed up your turbo, etc, then you are in trouble. Gutting the cat it irreversible.. I recommend just buying the cat delete pipe. I think I got mine for like $60 delivered. I keep my stock (intact) cat in my garage, and it takes me about 20 minutes to put it back on before it goes to the shop. http://www.xtremediesel.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=218
I have seen that cat-delete at the XtremeDiesel.com but it appears that it only fits the downpipe made by the same company. Is this true?... or will it fit the stock downpipe and stock exhaust that came with the O6 truck? Thanks.
