Two Problems...Can't Resolve

First:
There is a howling noise that has developed coming from the engine compartment. It appears to some how be connected to the braking system, let me explain. I can feel the howl when I apply the brakes and I can't swear to it but it seems to increase the harder I apply the brakes. Yesterday it appeared to dissappear after warming up...I think!

Second:
What appears to be coming from the right side is a chirping or higher pitched howling noise. The funny thing is that it remains at a constant speed. In other words, it does not speed up or slow down with the speed of the truck. Here is the real kicker, it does not appear below 30 mph. The noise does not change when applying brakes either.

At this point I am wondering if the two issues are related. It is an '03, 7.3, 4 WD with 47k on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I moved you up to the 7.3 forum. You may find a better answer here or the SuperDuty section.

I assume you've checked the power steering fluid and it's up.
With that said, it sounds like your power steering pump is failing. That's dissapointing considering you only have 47k on the truck.
The other noise; you cannot duplicate the noise without driving 30+ mph? You've tried revving the engine and nothing?

Thanks for moving my post, I didn't know how to move it after I noticed it.

I have checked the power steering fluid and its OK.

The noise at 30+ is in the right front wheel area...engine rpm appears to have no effect.

This is why FTE is admired by users. Moderators are here to help you find the best answer to your problem and concerns with your ride.
Kwikkordead is most knowledgeable on issues, a bad pump can make noises though full of oil. Can you hear it at idle when you apply the brakes setting static? Low growling noise and hard to detect where it originates is probably the power steering pump.

Shot in the dark on your second problem about the Squeak. Front hub, axle needle bearings are dry. Have the front brakes and hub ever been serviced?
