Y-block suggestions
I'm a newbie to the forum and working on a '54 F-100 1/2-ton with the 239 OHV V8. Plan for the truck is to give it a thorough rebuild (keeping stock suspension, maybe upgrade to disc brakes up front) and some mild performance mods. From what I've read here and elsewhere, the 239 isn't a good candidate for much other than a resto project, but I'd like to keep a Y-block. I've read up on the 272-292-312 motors but haven't been able to find much on the other Y-blocks as far as whether or not they'd be a good choice. I have located a complete Lincoln 368 (air cleaner to oil pan) in a '56 Merc Montclair and also came across a 272 on Ebay ( Item number: 180038289774). Any suggestions???
