Is this normal?

My truck seems to have plenty of power at takeoff. It will almost peel out on dry pavement. I can beat a little honda to 20 mph, but man it really seems to bog after that. It accelerates ok, I guess, but is the lack of power in the top end the result of the restrictive intake and lame exhaust?

I mean, is there something else wrong? It runs great and has power, but is just feels like I'm towing something after it first gets moving.

If you want more kick at higher RPM's, gotta get a turbo or at least propane injection...my propane injection works best @ 2100 RPM "empty"....pulling my 5th, all propane gets me is better MPG's

I take it you have the 410 rear end gears?

Have you removed your stock muffler yet?

Get rid of the tiny exhaust and the restrictive muffler first.
Then do some work on the air intake system.
The engine will be more responsive and run much easier.

Before I reworked my exhaust, I had good power, but it dogged easier on hills. Now I climb them practically without losing speed if it isn't a real bad slope and I am way heavy. Definitely open up the pipes in and out... I won't win any races, but I can run with the big guys.
