I wonder if a "bus trap" is the same thing as a road type cattle guard.

Unfortunate accident.

A bus trap is like a cattel guard with wide space between the bars that will Trap a car.

Only vehicles like Buses & Trucks can pass over them.

In Calgary they are used in closed communities (closed to car traffic) to control people from using residential areas for cutting through, but allow Buses to service the area.

Thanks Dennis. That's just horrible bad luck. I know when I was young we did things similar, like putting quarters or rocks on the trolley and train tracks. I don't think I ever considered it would get shot back at me. I mean what are the odds?!!

can someone find a pic of a bus trap, I cant visualize this.

If it lets a bus through, but stops a car, it musta been a boulder

I think it's something like this, but not sure.
Mil1ion may have a correct pic.

Think of a trough that is too wide for car tires to pass on either side but ,a vehicle as wide as a truck or bus that can.

Now Going side to side in this trough are two/three 4"-6" pipes 30-36"" apart at strategic spots so the tires become trapped in between them.

The term bus trap is not a good but is used all the time, it's actually a "vehicle trap" meant for anything less than a heavy truck or bus.

I'll see if I can find a photo.

EDIT:

Here you go.

I've never seen those kind of guards before.

I could use those in my driveway at times.
