6l pwr, so if i put a 4" catback system on my 2006ps with a good intake system like afe stage 2 magnum force intake system, i can get the loud whistle out of the exhaust and a little more performance from the engine? and the cat back should not void the warranty? will the cat back exhaust affect emissions test at inspection time? will this mod shorten the turbo and engine life? also i run a diablo sport predator........thought u might have answers to these questions, since u seem pretty knowledgeable about this subject...........
Gigante is correct. If you put on a cat back, it will tone it up just a bit. To get a loud whistle, you need a turbo back with no cat. However, Ford will most likely void your warranty for the turbo back with no cat.
If you install the AFE intake, they (Ford) will most likely void your warranty also. Ford is NOT mod friendly at all toward the 6.0L engines.
The cat back shouldn't have any effect on the emissions test since the cat is still there. It should also have no adverse effect toward turbo or engine life as it is still almost factory.
I also agree with gigante about losing the diablo. I favor the SCT personally and I sold all my Edge products and got the SCT with custom tunes from Eric at Innovative Diesel. There are several other vendors and custom tuners as well. The SCT is much better at protecting the transmission and geting the most power out safely, BUT if Ford has any hint that you have a tuner on your truck, you can forget that warranty again.
what about adding the Cat delete pipe to the already existing cat back set up that I installed on the truck after I started the thread??
The way I see it, I can just put the cat back on when I have to take my truck into the dealer....
I love the new throaty sound that the MBRP gave the truck, but want to add the turbo whistle....the MBRP cat delete pipe should fit onto my stock down pipe, right? Or is there another issue that I might have that i'm not seeing here?

No, the MBRP cat delete does not match up to the stock down pipe - however, there are other alternatives to doing it without MBRP.
what exhaust system do yall recommend for a 2006 6.0 ps, what brand, stainless or aluminum, 4" or 5"? do these systems come with a cat delete pipe that just unbolts and i can bolt my cat back in place in the drive way for emmissions and warranty? what is mbrp? if i put a complete cat back system on the truck with a good high performance intake, and i pull the cat and run the cat delet pipe will i then get the v-8 and whistle noise i want? what is so good about the sct tuner, how much is it? have u tried a predator already and did not like it? so far my predator has done me well except when i have to download a custom tune and reinstall to my truck that is a pain.........

Personally, I prefer the stainless since it's more prone not to rust. You really only need a 4". I have a pretty heavily modded 6.0 and the 4" is doing just fine. Brand? Just a good quality one.

Some do and some don't. Check the manufacturer's web site for that info.

A good quality brand. As is Silverline, Bully Dog, Banks, etc.

Yes, you should. Hope you didn't want the warranty though.

From my research, it puts out the highest amount of power SAFELY. I paid around $540 with three "Extreme" tunes written for my mods. You can find them for less with SCT boxed tunes made for a stock truck.

I haven't tried it personally, but I know some that have and like me with my Edge Products, they sold theirs and bought the SCT.

You'll still have to do that with an SCT. It only takes a couple minutes once you've stored the original stock programming.
MBRP 4" cat back AFE cat delete pipe. Easy install great sound. It will give you all the V8 sound and whistle you want and it's easy to put the cat back in for warranty work.
I feel like a schmuck right now. I ordered the MBRP delete pipe from my friend that got me my Cat back set-up. He was telling me that the MBRP delete would work on my stock down pipe, and now i'm seeing it won't. He doesn't have the ability to get me the AFE pipe the you say will work for me, he actually just found out that his supplier carries MBRP when I was looking through his catalogue.....I want to cancel this order, and go with what will work if he'll let me?? Is there anything besides the AFE pipe that I can look into?
-I hope at least-
I pulled my boat to the lake yesterday, and got nothing but compliments from quite a few people at the launch ramp about how the truck sounds.....I just want it to sound better. LOL.
Yes the AFE Cat delete works with the OEM system. I've yet to have a customer call and say that a turbo back system has voided the warranty. Thats not to say it hasnt, just that I have not heard that one yet. For the intake, you may want to consider doing the AFE OEM replacement. We sell alot of the AFE replacement filter elements...pro-gaurd 7...for the 6.0L.
I dont know why you would want backpreasure on a forced induction system? To have any effect on the turbo at all you would have to exceed the boost preasure with back preasure. I have heard that Ford was BLAMING EGR problems on this back preasure issue, but the EGR is between the Exhaust manifold and the turbo. So really I am totally confused at this point. The best thing you can do is like stated before. Get with your local tech, and try to feel out what his thoughts and feelings are. I suppose if he wanted to be a jerk he could void your warranty for not properly warming your truck on cold mornings. Its his word against yours. My stealership loves my straight pipe cool duals. I guess I'm lucky. If your nervouse about it, get the AFE delete and MBRP cat back.
The predator is not a bad tuner, but nothing compares to the Custom SCT from Innovative Diesel. It is by far our #1 selling item for the 6.0L. I use one in my 05. 23K miles on Extreme Race and not a problem. Hammered daily for customers at our shop.
thanks for all the info, i think for now i might go the cheap route and try a afe cat delete pipe on my stock system, and just bolt the cat back on when i need warranty. hope that will work......
