Steering: T or Y Setup

I just got a 1977 Bronco and I was looking at steering parts for it on Bronco Graveyard and I noticed that the older Broncos had a T type steering and the 77 has the Y type. Can I change over to the T type with parts for the older Broncos? I know that the T type works better on the fullsize 70's trucks when there is a lift on them. My Bronco has a 3 inch lift BTW. Is it worth changing over from the Y type to the T type? Any advice would be appreciated.

It can be converted to the T style linkage, but you need to use a 3 way adjustable steering linkage. The knuckle tie rod spacing on a Y knuckle (for disc brakes) is wider than the T, and you need to be able to adjust the tie rod out far enough. Kits to do this are available through the bronco parts suppliers.

I know the one I have is kind of scary with only three inches of lift. The thing wanders all over the road. I have checked the tie rod ends and they are all tight. Need to check the track bar though just to rule that out. If the track bar is not the problem then I will at least go to the older T setup.
