not really any places on the stock 5.4 box you could drill any. Except maybe some in the snorkel tube, or remove to snorkel tube altogether. In either case, youll be pulling in warmer air.

Leave it alone and forget the K&N especially if you are in a dusty part of the country, don't have the link now but K&N performed very poorly in filter protection of all the re-usable filters tested, plus the oil will mess up your MAF.

VOLANT! Stop messing around with the drop in filter and other cheapo methods trying to grab cooler air. the Volant has an enclosed set up and its great at keeping the engine heat out

I second the Volant, you can't really go wrong with this enclosed box...

The S&B is pretty much the same intake with a clear box cover instead of chrome at a cheaper price, S&B makes the Volant intake...

just for reference, the S&B looks like this installed. We have tested it some and its a very good intake. As a matter of fact, the Ford Racing intake for the F150 is this very same intake. Since it doesnt replace the factory filter box, you get perfect air readings, and no chance of going lean.

Punching holes in the airbox will only induce hot air into the mix. Hot air = less power.

I've heard of drilling holes in an atv airbox for that purpose, but never a truck. I think the best idea is go with an intake. That S&B looks pretty good to me.

Is your F150 still stock?

Bone stock. But maybe not for long...

I will most likely be buying an Edge Evo at the end of the month. When I wear out the stock tires, I'll go up a size to 285/65/18 and a level kit. Not sure about an intake or exhaust though. If I do, I'm leaning towards a Volant and Magnaflow. The main thing holding me back is I like how quiet the truck is for now.

Ride it out for a bit, they're beauties when they are that fresh and new. Especially if you like it that quiet. Probably do best with Magnaflow for improved performance with your exhaust and the Edge Evo...Check out some of our customer comments for this tuner, they get the job done right:

Is that $440.10 price for the Edge EVO that you referred to correct?

That's for his '06 F-150 application, the stated price.

We'll do price matching, especially to take care of FTE forum members.
