We've covered vins pretty well, but do any of you know of a reference source for production codes on early F series, esp 48-52?
I'm referring to the 1/2" high characters stamped into the firewall just to the left of the voltage regulator - just under the cowl seam. My '48 F1 is stamped 7RHI2L6025.
I understand this to read:
7 - Meadow Green
RH - Richmond
12 - Day
L - Month (November)
6025 - scheduled production unit number
Can anybody verify or contradict this info. I hand copied info from a long lost website that had similar info about a guy's truck, but wasn't a complete reference source.
looking through a book I have on these trucks, I'm rather confused looking at the number you gave. One thing I did read however is that the number on the cab (they call it the body number) is NOT the same as the VIN (which they say is on the clutch plate housing). One thing from your number I can confirm however would be that it was produced in Richmond. Not sure if my post is of any help, but I figured I'd try
