bracket and suspension interchange???

Hey guys does anyone have experience with converting a 2wd to a 4wd ??? I have a perfect 1968 F250 that I want to convert to 4wd..I also have available to me a 1975 4wd chassis. Will all the brackets and rears work???
Thanks,
Jim

Jim, Welcome to FTE the #1 online Ford truck tech support site.

IMHO The easiest for you would be to put your 68 sheetmetal on the 75 chassis.

What you are thinking can probably be done with enough time, money, and skill thrown at it, but the sheetmetal swap is much simplier and cheaper.

Glad to have you on board.

no doubt it would be less time consuming that way, but I'm in connecticut and every chassis I find is a total rust bucket. The 68 I have is from california and pristine!!! I'm willing to spend the extra time and effort. see my dimlema?? But the real question is do the parts actually swap?? I would assume any set up using a divorced transfer case works, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the quick reply

Jim, The short answer is no, the long answer anything can be done with enough impute. Hardly anything with vehicles is impossiable with enough money spent.

Basically you have six points to unbolt and the front clip and cab can be lifter in one piece and set on a new chassis. Putting the 4X4 under your exisitng is much more complicated.

I wouldn't attempt it, but I have much better access to donors in NC.

65-79 are all the same, 2 under the radiator support, 2 at the firewall and 2 at the rear of the cab. There are other things that have to be disconnected like the steering column, wiring, etc., but the cab and front clip can be lifted and the chassis rolled out and the new one rolled back under. By doing it that way there are no fenders and doors to adjust afterward.

Hey good luck on your choices, man.
