hubcaps/tailgate

My truck was used in the wedding of a friend's daughter this past weekend so I had to do some little things I've been meaning to do: hubcaps, tailgate letters, and big scratch.

This spring I sold my stainless hubcaps, bought a set of originals from an FTE member, had kids at my school pound them out. Had my body man really fine tune them and primer them. I am happy to say one of my own originals was good enough to make the grade! I painted them argent this summer but just last week, I finally got the letters painted red. Boy do they look good.

This winter I let my old sled fall on my right front fender. The nut on the steering part of the sled hit the fender and then slid down teh front of the fender... One big long scratch on the fender, with the primer showing through! I got a kid in school to paint the fender, matched it very nicely.

I bought the stick on tailgate letters from an FTE memeber also. My letters were painted Sungate Ivory but it didn't look good up close. The fender was painted by Sat afternoon, so I asked the kid if he could repaint my tailgate. He did, took out a lot of paint chips and even put on teh stick on letters.

I spent all Sat morning washing and cleaning the truck for the wedding. It looked good. I hauled the junior groomsmen and the 2 ringbearers. Wedding was out doors in the mountains of Central PA. Beautiful!

Check out my gallery to see the new pics. They are at teh end of my gallery. I haven't added words since I am having trouble with the gallery thing. I also tried to put the pics on this forum and could not, but at least I did get the new pics on teh gallery!

Let me know what you think!

Excellent to hear you have so much free help! Did the Groomsmen and ringbearers just plant their butts on the bed walls? What a comfortable ride that would be!

The boys sat on the bales of straw you see in the bed of the truck in the pics. I did pay my student for the work he did, although probably not enough as he went above and beyond... I told him he must be bucking for an 'A'!

Ahh didn't even see those. I take it you don't have nice pipes on that thing if they let you use it in a wedding. They wouldn't even let my use my truck for a fireworks festival it is so loud.

Abe,
Your truck keeps getting better and better! The hubcaps look awesome! My stomach started to get queezy reading your story of the sled scratching the fender. Glad you got everything worked out. The tailgate looks great also. Let's see if I can get those pics in this thread...

Wish I could find a set of original hub caps. They are extremely rare.

Wow, very nice. What a gorgeous backdrop for your pics too.

I'd give the student an A for sure

Kent,
thanks for posting the pictures from the wedding. By the way I bought the hubcaps from Kent. As I said I picked out the best four, and one of my originals made the cut. Kent, the one with some of the red paint on the letters was not used as it was quite dented, but I have it hanging in my garage.

It was a beautiful setting for a wedding and for my pictures!

thanks!

Abe,

The truck looks great...except the hubcaps. I like the shiny ones.

Maybe someday I'll get around to buying some wheels to use those hubcaps on.

Abe, the truck is absolutely beautiful! It's a real treat to see a nice stock refit.
