Fuel pump for 63 with a 170 engine
#2
Any fuel pump for 144, 170, 200, and 250 engines before about 1975 should work. As you pull out the old one, pay attention to the direction of the arm on the fuel pump that sticks into the engine. The arm is offset in one direction. It is possible to install the fuel pump upside down, and if you do, it won't work.

Also make sure that the arm is the same as the one on your take off pump. I had a problem with a locally sourced replacement pump for the 170 in my '65 Mustang, where there was what looked like a plate welded onto the arm on my take off pump, but due to part number consolidation, the new one didn't, so the arm didn't contact the camshaft lobe correctly. I ended up having to source the pump thru NPD to get the correct one.
