Diesel nut, my stroker is close to the same as yours and the last time I did the mileage I was at 16.7 mpg Higway. It stays right there between 16-18 all the time.
You can go to gear vendors web site and see the prices. I don't know the address, but if you do a google search it's easy to find. good luck.

How many miles? Are all the injectors and sensors functoning properly?
I have a 97 that gets at worst 16 and best 18, The truck stays heavy (100% of time) at over 11,000 lbs. Mileage went up when I replaced the injectors at 248,000 with new ones and the injector pressure regulator. I also have 4:10 gears and 4x4.
You may also want to explore the Chip Route. SOme gain fuel mileage with a chip.

Have any of you tried Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant?A friend of mine started using it in his Dodge dually and saw a 5 MPG improvement from one trip to Dayton Ohio to the next.I've been using it in my '95 PSD,can't say my mileage has improved but,it does seem to run smoother & quieter.

The milage seems to be about right for your truck. My truck's about the same wiht the same results in milage.

Not too sure about a Gear vendor in a 4x4, but it's probably OK if you watch what you are doing.

mileage is 193300 right now and everything seems to function properly as far as I know. utahcrew, what all have u done to ur truck? Ive put on a 3" dp, straight pipe 4" to a 2"X 4" box pipe custom made manifold that Ive connected two 4" curved chrome stacks to in the bed behind the cab. K&N air filter, filter box is stock. Would putting in the 6637 mod filter improve the mileage at all? Are there any injectors that are better than stock ones to improve mileage? Thanx again.

Last time I checked gear venders were very pricey. I can't remember the exact cost but it was enough for me to stop thinking about it.

Diesel nut, my truck is pretty mutch stock. The only thing it's straight piped (muffler delete pipe and cat delete pipe). It still has the stock down pipe. I have a K&N #$%drop in filter in it. (geting ready to order a tymar intake). I try to keep the rpm's between 2200-2500. always run staynadyne proformance, delo 400 oil. (changed every 3000 miles) and only buy fuel from stations that move alot of fuel. Sorry it took so long to get back to ya.

Cuda_jim, some one I know just bought the exact twin to my truck and it has a gear vender overdrive in it now. The guy he bought truck from told him he was get 21mpg on the highway. I plan to keep tabs on this truck with the gear vendor and see what the new owner thinks about it, and will let eveyone know what I learn.

Yea Ill have to look into the gear vendors unit. that would be great to actually get 21mpg if thats true. I run rotella oil in my truck and thats what its had in it since it was new. It uses about 2 qts every 5000 miles. Thanx for all the info guys appreciate it! Love this site!

And btw, the gear vendors unit for my truck would be $2900!! that will buy a lot of diesel fuel! Theyre pretty darn proud of those things, WOW! It would be alot cheaper to swap in 355 gears something I might actually consider. this truck has plenty of power it doesnt really need 410s. Know any one who sells gears cheap?

Try this http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...d+pinion+gears and click on Accu Auto Parts. They go all the way from a 5.38 to 3.08. Some body install the 3.08 and tell how they run!
