Need some advice

I'm new to this forum. Lots of great stuff here. I'm the original owner of a 2001 F250 PSD with 94K miles. I've had virtually zero issues with it and couldn't be happier with the truck Looking forward to the next 100K miles. Couple of things it needs now and looking for some advice.

Ignition Switch - won't start unless I jiggle the shift lever, so thinking this is the issue. How much are they, and is this a job suitable for a novice?
Glow plug relay - how much should I expect to pay.

Any advice on best place to buy these parts?

Thanks.

Welcome to FTE. That ignition switch may not even be bad. There has been many a steering column wiring short. I would pull the plastic off and have a look what is causing this. Might even be a loose wire.

GPR runs around $40 I believe but it depends on where you get it from.

The neutral safety switch could be misadjusted. What happens when you put the shift lever in neutral, instead of park?

Hi Pops,

Thats what I do when jiggling the lever doesn't work. Although it seems it is more relaible (i.e. starts more often that with it being in park), its still hit and miss if I try to start in neutral. Usually, some anount of back and forth with the lever will get it to start. Just afraid its going to get worse and leave me stranded some day.

There is a problem with some wires getting chaffed in the column. The TSB only mentions the O/D wire:

99/2000 F-series/Excursion, Gauges inop, flashing OD light, Fuse #19 Blown:
This may due to the purple/orange-stripe overdrive wire chaffing at the base of the shifter, under the steering column cover. SSM #14044

but I have heard of a few damaging more wiring than that.
