Smile need help!!!!!!!!!!

I put a new 351 windsor high output engine in my truck with a edelbrock performer intake on it and the ignition timing is set at 10 degrees btc but the engine spark knocks , so my question is what should i set the timing at to take care of this problem?

What year truck? and what year H.O. 351 did you put in it. When you timed it , did ya dis-connect the SPOUT connector? Maybe you are too far btc, like 14 plus btc and is pinging/knocking? just a guess since we do not know the detail information.

the truck is a 1987 F-150 i put a 1987 351 ho in it and yes i disconnected the spout connecter it had the egr on it from factory but i took it off and put the manifold on it

Did you replace with a different displacement motor size, or did the original motor in your 1987 truck also have a 5.8L (351) as well? Reason I am asking is because the firing orders are different between 5.0L and 5.8L engines, and others.

no it had the factory 351 h. o. in it from the factory

You said you put in a "new" engine. Are you sure it didnt knock from wherever you got it before?

no it didn't knock before unless the machine shop did something wrong but i wonder if i change the dist. curve if that would make a difference
