Hello everyone. I am new to the diesel community due to upgrading from a Toyota T100. I now have an '04 F350 CC LB 4x4 6.0L. Upgrades include MBRP turbo back dual SS exhaust, AEM Intake and Edge Platinum w/Juice. f
Question: After installing my exhaust I had a real bad vibration that sounded like it was coming from the turbo. Upon investigation I found that the down tube may not have been properly seated on the turbo and where the downtube connects to the next piece of pipe was not seated all the way. Fixed and vibration went away. Then I installed a test pipe and now I get the vibration very sporatically. I still don't know where it's coming from exactly. I have adjusted and tightened the clamp where the downtube meets the next piece again. This clamp is very close to part of the engine but I don't think that is where the vibration is coming from. Anybody heard of this?
Check that the downtube isn't hitting the firewall. I have a 5" exhaust, 4" downtube on my 01 F250. As the previous person said check the crossmember. Mine was contacting both the crossmember and the firewall.
Well I was back at it today. I checked the cross memeber and it was OK. I also cut about 1/2" off the hanger on the test pipe as it was hitting frame. I did see where the down tube was hitting the firewall. There is a seam that is bent out and there is not even a pinky finger clearance. I was able to get more clearance with the help of a 2X4. I may have to grind away a little metal if it comes back. Thanks for your imput/help.
