checking voltage on TPS

Did a lot of searching on the pedal mod and came up with DC voltage of .38 idle to 4.49 WOT (should be). I've got 1.15 at WOT and 5.3 at idle. I must be doing something wrong. The way I understand it is gray\white is positive and gray\red is negitive. I switched the positive and negitive leads and got the same reading. What is the third wire for, I think its gray\yellow? My PSD would not rev up but I fixed that and thought I would check the TPS voltage while I was in there. Thanks

This should help. Take your readings to ground.

Thanks a lot man, just what I needed. I kick myself for being a little stupid, of course it should go to ground. I don't know what I was thinking, probably not thinking at all. Thanks again

I don't know if I need any more help or not. On my first attempt my WOT was 4.04 so I adjusted it some more. Second reading my WOT was 5.2, to high but took it for a ride to see. I came back with my engine light on and the overdrive light flashing. I had five codes! So I adjusted it again and got the WOT at 4.49. Reset the codes and went for another ride, ran great. The idle volts were never out of range but finally got the WOT just right. My question now is, why won't my superchips code reader erase code P0221 which is TPS ect. ect? Any body have any ideas, my guess is I need a better scanner?

Old Bird,
My PSD won't rev up. You say you had that problem and fixed it. What did you do?
Thanks

That's a good question because if I had a memory I would be dangerous. A couple of years ago I attemted to do the pedal mod and I think I did it wrong. I would have to pump the pedal until it reved up and then I was fine until turning off the engine. I got tired of that so I pulled the pedal off and looking at it the IVS switch wasn't getting depressed enough at idle. I got the best tool out I have, a hammer, and wacked down on the tap that depresses the switch and now everything is fine. I should have checked the volage before doing that then I could say one way or the other where I was at according to the nicely provided chart above. I hope this helps, let me know.
