mileage ?
Hey guys gotta question on a 2wd '82 ranger with a 4 cyl and 5speed. What kind of mileage can be expected out of these little trucks? 25 and up or not? Thinkin of buying this truck but I wanted to know how good these things are on gas. thanx, Casey.

I'm thinking maybe closer to ~20 MPG's if the carb is in good shape.
You're trying to get gitty-up out of a 2.0L, which is not easy. If the engine has never being opened up, it's almost 25 years old. If it's been rebuilt recently, then things may be better.
If the truck is in good shape, go for it.

Both 4cylinders are fairly equal for economy. The 2.0l will be very underpowered, and don't expect to go over 55 and get any kind of mileage at all. The 2.3l on the other hand is a little stronger, though larger, you'll run a lighter foot. In terms of durability, the trans is probably your biggest concern, it's almost certain to be a TK, if they are treated well they will last a long time, they don't like abuse however, if it shifts ok and doesn't make any noise in any gear you're probably ok there. If you like the way it drives get it, they're relatively simple, durable, and economical, plus nothing beats a Gen-1!!!
