hey guys.
well with 200k+ on my 5.8, it is rather tired.
I have a 393 stroker on the engine stand ready to go, but I have some concerns.
I am rather sure that the stock fuel system won't take a liking to the new displacement, as well as the new can and the headers.
The fuel injection system is sd, so I am rather positive it won't 'learn' anything.
I would like to get a maf conversion, but I still think that this is way too far from stock for even a maf, but mabye I am wrong.
I am sure I would probably need bigger injectors too.
I was considering going to a carb, since I have a few new ones in the boxes still. But my tranny is an E4OD, so I would probaby have to figure out a way to keep that running as well as my distributor. hmmmm
I imagine I would have to get a fuel pressure regulator to drop the pressure down to about 7 psi with a return line.
I have been searching for parts, and been kinda left in the dark. I would rather not have to change the tranny and the transfer case as well.
They do make a e4od controller as well as fuel pressure regulators that would work with the existing fuel pumps if you want to go carb.
As for going to maf, wait for Frederic to post; I think he would have a couple of relevant suggestions for you and may advocate staying with SD for its ease of 'tweekinig'.
go to www.fordfuelinjection.com. so much info there for this. you can run a lightning ecu and then get a tweecer to setup the computer to run that motor that would be the easiest and least expensive as well. Or locate a MAF ecu from a 302/e4od combo and have a custom chip burned at a dyno shop. but you would still need to rewire your harness for this to work. what heads are you running? and 24lb injectors would be necessary maybe even 36lb injectors.
