new turbo is going on next weekend and i am replacing the up pipe flange gaskets while im in that area. Truck has 160,000 miles on it with no visible signs of leakage. (black soot that i've read about on here). I dont want them to start leaking 3 months down the road!
Is there a write-up on doing the gasket replacement while the turbo is off. Ive done some searching and have read about aligment problems when re-assembling, but no step by step process. Hope this goes well. I have had the turbo off last year to do the pedistal o-rings, so im not new to that. Thanks for any input.
Will give a step by step artical a try. Will have my wife tansfer the pics to the article. I don't think there is going to be many steps involved but it looks like getting everything to line back up is going to be the issue. Being that the gaskets actually get crushed (from what ive read). Anyone who has ever done this, do you have to loosen the lower bolts that attach the bottom of the up-pipes to the manifold? Any advise would be helpful to atleast get me started. Mine are really rusty and dont look they are going to come off even if they are soaked in penetrating lube.
