Update
Also a big thanks to Subford.
Bill you have been a great source of knowledge and
help.
OK a little review I purchased a 1987 E-150 conversion. It was having several different fuel issues. One thing I found was that the fuel pumps were direct wired to keyed power. I had narrowed the problem down to the EEC with Bills help. When I removed the computer and looked at it I found a sticker that says that the computer is for Taurus/Sable 3.0 only. I'm guessing this isn't the original computer. (Like duh) So I go to the salvage and find a 1988 5.0 van.I got that computer and stuck it in the van. It corrected my fuel pumps, they are cycling fine now. The van also seems to run and drive fine, of course it ran fine with the Taurus computer, the pumps just wouldn't run. Now according to the parts houses I called my van has no less than 12 different computers listed for it. They want to see the old unit to get the numbers for a cross reference. See the problem? How do I find out which computer my van should have in it. I am guessing the different computers are for different gears, engine, tranny, options and such. But the parts store just says look at old unit. Should I just run the one I have since it works or try and find the proper unit for my van? I wonder if mileage and power might be better.
Thanks
Cary
