Well I did a search and found out that the only way to get the chattering to stop is to change out the rotors with slotted or drilled rotors?? I have changed the brake pads and had the rotors turned.. And the chatter continues.. One thing I did notice is when I am pulling a heavy trailer with brakes the chattering stops.. I think the trailer brakes must help out..
Does anyone have any new ideas on this subject?? I was wondering if the front brakes could somehow be taking on most of the load?? If so how could you fix it or tell??
When you describe brake chatter, do you mean that you are hearing your brakes slapping the rotors when you apply your brakes?
When I apply my brakes, I hear the calipers or brake shoes/pads slap against the rotors. It's a very annoying, and something that I don't think I should be hearing from a 2 year old truck with only 21,000 miles.
Just like you stated, when I am towing my trailer, I don't hear the clank.
