I just was curious....TexasMike posted a thread about his newer KR that he won on Ebay. Which got me to thinking....how many of you KR owners use your truck for work and how many use it for the luxury?
I'm not trying to bash anyone, at all. Seriously, I was just wondering if it was tough putting that 1st load of material in the bed or if anyone plows with a KR? They are such nice trucks, that I don't know if I could own one since I use my F250 for work.
I remember my 1st load of material after I bought her new. I was like: "Man, this is going to hurt" But of course, after a few loads, it didn't hurt so bad.
So let me know what you use your KR's for and if it bothered you at all at 1st.
I work mine every day. 2006 with 40+K on it, at least half of that is towing big heavy loads. I have a 14' dump trailer that has been to the gravel yard and the dump on the back of this truck more times than I care to remember. I have a 22' flat bed goose neck equipment trailer that I haul 2 bobcats on (at the same time) anywhere from 100 mile round trip to 1,000 mile round trip. And of course my 31' fiver toy hauler that does not get used near as much as it should but has still seen some action.
When I was looking at it, I thought to myself, I really don't need such a nice truck. But then I came to my senses and said if not me, than who? I have also made countless trips to the Home Depot and other lumber yards and have yet to mar the beauty of the truck. First thing I did was get it rhino lined, after that anything can go in the bed.
I use it all the time to haul horses to shows, to pick up trees, haul the bobcat around to various places. I have had alot of stuff in the bed of the truck, some of which you don't want to know. The only problem is, I'm a little lazy on washing the truck and as such it gets a lot of dirt on it and I've had a few people at the horse shows write "Wash Me" in the dirt on my truck's hips. It is also my daily driver as well. I'm not afraid to use it, that's what it was meant to do. As far as that first load, I think if you bought it new, no matter what it is, that first load is a tough one, but it gets easier the more you put in there.
Just got my 06 KR, it is a really nice truck and since I only need to tow our Toyhauler around, it has a pretty cake job of running around town as a kid mover! Had it one week and have 250 miles on it! I do plan on taking it down and getting a spray in liner for it, Ford should do that from the factory anyway! Who needs a painted bed???
Wow...great post. Amazing. What a work horse. How's that V10 work for you? Any regrets over the diesel?
Sometimes. I got out of a diesel for this truck. They had a truck just like the one I got on the lot with the diesel, but I had experience with the V-10 thus I knew it could do the job. I drive it alot even unloaded and was tired of the diesel sound and smell. But sometimes I do miss the extra power...
The V-10 is a great engine as far as I am concerned and never fails to do what I ask it to, which can be pretty extreme at times.
Yo kimminau2,
I see your truck has 4.56 gears, did ya have those installed or factory?
I just picked up a 07 V10 off the lot it's got the 20in wheels with 34 in tires
along with 4.10 gears and I'm not impressed!
Silly deaaler should have orderd it with it least 4.30's
Anyway my plan is to go with 4.56 real soon, maybe even 4.88?
I'm thinkin 4.10 carriers is the starting point for 4.10 and higher.

I bought mijne to tow a new fifth wheel. Biggest factor was the Tow Boss package because I've now got a trailer rated at 18,700 lbs.
The trailer is a NuWa HitchHiker Champagne Edition 37CKRD.
With the King Ranch package, I can now say that I am "Enjoying Champagne on the King Ranch!"
After 2 Lariat F150's the Dark Copper KR F250 6.0 was calling to me from the lot. Never had a diesel before and after seing this years had to pull the trigger.
The only load's I hual is my '94 Harley for long tirps as once you ride across Texas in June, July, or August there is no desire to do it again. Also hual my two Labs on weekend trips, a load of lumber, firewod, etc. Do have access to a family 22' boat that we plan to hual to SPI someday.
The earlier KR's really didn't appeal to me, green wasn't doing it. So it is the true symbol of a REAL truck and the mods, additions, etc. are fun and challenging. I think I'll keep this one for more than 3 years but then who knows what the 2010 will look like or offer . . .
I had the 4.56's installed, mine also came with the 4.10's. You do not need to change the carrier for the 4.56 or the 4.88. I am satisfied with the 4.56's but 4.88 probably would have been better with the amount of towing I do. If you are going to be towing and if you go bigger than 35" on the tires I would recommend the 4.88's.
JB Kingranch, yours is identical to our 06, from what I can see. We just bought ours the Sat before last and LOVE it! Took it to a wedding, nice truck to arrive in all dressed up! The groom has a 05 F-350 H-D so our gorup is no stranger to these beauts!
