I posted this and got no info. So I will try a new topic. My brakes will lock up very easy after setting over night they are even worse about locking up. I have checked the pads and shoes. They all look great had a brake job done last year.
I have checked every thing I know to do you think it is the booster?
The first and cheapest thing I would try is the master cylinder. When the booster goes bad it will be really hard to press the brakes sometimes and it will make a "WHOOSH" noise kind of like Darth Vader when you apply the brakes.
I had that problem on my 92 f-150. when the truck sets over night, a little surface rust develops. When you put the brakes on for the first time in the am, you would get a brake grab, the they were fine the rest of the day. I think i switched brake shoe brands, and the problem went away. I think there is a TSB On the older models. I wish i could remember what shoes i used. Good luck
It feels like just the back tires locking up. Now I may not have made myself clear. My brakes are always very easy to lock up. But even more easy in the morning or after setting for 8 hours or more/ After work. I don't know what the problem could be I have always worked on my own cars and trucks. I used to be a Peterbuilt Tech. So it is not like I don't know what I am doing. Thanks for the help I may replace the Master.
bosshoss had the right answer.....it's the rear shoes.
You can either replace them or what quite often works, you can clean the shoes and chamfer the ends of them with a file. Being an ex-tech I don't have to remind you not to breathe any dust while you're working on the brakes
I also failed to tell you guys that I don't have that great of pedal it will go over half way to the floor and grab. I think I will go and buy The master cylinder and the cleaner I can always take back the unused parts.
I have not had a chance to look at it yet. This problem just got alot worse this morning. Most of the time it will be better when I get to work about 15 miles. But this morning it was not any better thanks for the advice. I checked the brakes about a month ago and all looked ok.
OK Here is a update! All of you where correct with the troubleshooting of my brakes.
The front where worn out metal to metal. The master cylinder fixed my pedal going to the floor. And the rear brakes where rusted so I bought front pads and rotors. Master cylinderand cleaned the rear brakes and drum. Now I am stoping like the good ole days.
Thanks for all the info. Now I can burn up the road and not my back tires.. LOL....
