ok, so i'm thinking about pulling the trigger on those hummer tires, but first, do you think ill be disappointed in performance? The best tire I've had was a 33inch cooper MT.. so I don't have much to compare it to. Second, is there any 16.5 5x5.5 wheels out there (i'm assuming you can't get away with running them on a 16..)?

edit: ok, nevermind on the wheels, i found some on summit racing. they have 9.75 and 12 inch widths, what would be best for the hummer tires?

but.. the 9.75 has a 4.75 backspacing and the 12inch has a 5 inch backspacing, is this too much?

The standard hummer rims are the narrow width, so you want the 9.75, and the stock back spacing is like 3-1/2" so no I don't think the backsspacing on those rims will be too much.

Ok, buy before a dump a bunch of cash want to see if anyone sees anything i'm missing.

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=USW%2D70%2D6955&N =700+4294923107+4294923106+4294923105+4294793321+4 294906456+4294795059+4294906447+115&autoview=sku

are the wheels: Wheel, 8-Spoke, Steel, White, 16.5 in. x 9.75 in., 5 x 5.5 in. Bolt Circle, 4.75 in. Backspace, Each

and of course, the goodyear wrangler RT OZ 36x12.5x16.5.

how well will these tires balance for driving on the road? Its not a daily driver, but it will be driven to where its going to be wheeled (2 hours+ one way..) so I would like to be somewhat driveable on the street.

ps-sorry, I like my money and want to make absoluety sure i'm not wasting it before i pay up

if you are looking for something cheap for a Bronco, I suggest these. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=USW%2D70%2D5055&N =700+4294923106+400354+1003+4294923105+4294906456+ 4294793325+4294795084+4294906447+115&autoview=sku I'm running 33x12.50 Baja Claw Radials on them right now, and really like 'em. They clean up pretty easy (not worried about looks so much as vibration from caked on mud), and they are strong, with thick powder coat, and a really good bead seat with a nice tall lip both inner and outter, to keep tires from coming unseated.

edit: I just noticed you posted almost the same wheel I did, except a diffrent size. LOL, great minds think alike.

Not sure what your asking, but yes those wheels will fit both your bronco and those tires, yes they can be balanced, although may take some weight to do it, just like every other tire over 34" tall seems to. sometimes you can get the balance closer by spinning them on the rims until it's a close as possible before putting the weights on them. But remember the hummers can run atleast 65mph and they aren't going to let them be too far out of balance because at speed out of balance tires tear stuff up and create unsafe driving condition. But with that said one of my friends around here has a set of the hummer tires on his 3/4ton chev and he drives it all around on the hiway all teh time and doesn't complain about them, but I will have to go look one of these days and see how much weight he has on them.

Answered all my questions monster.

I was just concerned about the 4.75inch backspace, one of the previous posters said that anything over 4 was too much.

how much do you think a shop would charge to mount and balance those wheels and tires?

i've taken several sets to walmart and they charge about $5 per tire/wheel to mount and as far as balancing just throw in some BB's

alright, thanks for the help everyone. I ordered those 16.5x9.75 wheels from summit and went with the HUMVEE tires off eBay, ended up being 460 for 5 tires and 260 for 5 wheels with shipping, not too bad considering the last time I got tires it cost me almost 800 for 4 33inch MS tires.

one last question; how hard would it be to mount these things in my garage? will the old spray something explosive around the bead and light 'er up trick work or should I just take them somewhere to have it done?

I don't think you will need the light em up trick, I believe you will be able to get them to seat without it. But if that doesn't do it, something like the following auction will, you can build one if you want, but that auction is as cheap as I have ever seen one. The Cheetah brand ones are $300+
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/tire-...QQcmdZViewItem

But as you can tell not much to it, and you can build it easily enough if oyu have an air tank of some kind.

Oh yeah, I've seen them using those at the local tire shop. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Tires arrived today.
wheels are on back order until december 4th..

Is this normal though? Looks like the tire is deformed, will it shape up when it gets on a wheel or should I be worried?

and here's what it'll look like when I get them on there, almost looks like I won't have to trim anything, but I think I'm going to get cutouts to cover up that rust in the back.
