Wow this has to be the first oil post that hasn't gone haywire. Maybe I spooke too soon. lol
I too have use GTX in all my gas engines but just saw the other day that they are making a diesel oil now. I use Delco 15w40 diesel oil since new but I'm not one for changing brands so I prob won't switch to the Castrol .
I have used this oil in my generator in my travel trailer b/c it calls for 15w40. I noticed that it does not get consumed as much as other brands I have used in the generator. I change oil every 100 hours in the trailer and I didn't have to add any over that time with this oil. I think I might try it in my truck if it comes out in CJ-4 spec by my next oil change.

If the Castrol oil is CI4+ rated... then your fine.
As a 15W-40 weight oil, it is a dino/conventioal oil and probably will work as well as any other conventional 15W-40 (check for the CI4+ API rating).
Have at it...
p.s. - Use Racor, Fram or Motorcraft oil filters for proper filtration and fit!!!
I've had good luck with Castrol in the past, but they sort of went mainstream for a while and I haven't used them in over 10 years (never in a diesel). I still pick Delo myself, but hey, I retired from there, raced with the chief chemist that did our add. packs (and shared our testing results with me), and believe they want to keep their dominant share of the OTR market by building the best product...
But what do I know (really). I'll go to the Delo CJ oil at the next (soon) OC...
What about Amzoil (did I spell that right?). I don't know anything about it, buddy of mine is changing to that in his 2004 F250 4X4 6.0. I would like to find out more about it.
Ive used castrol in every thing i own i have done 3 oil changes on my 2005 6.0 at 5000 mile intervals and have had no problem yet. Plus it comes with a really easy pore spout that does not make a mess with out a funnel. So try it out every body and let me know what u think.
