Ive tried searching but cant seem to find the answer to my question, which is simple.
I have a 99 F-250 V-10. What is the towing capacity for my truck. Im looking to buy a toy hauler, and want to know what trailer to look for weight wise.
It depends on what axle ratio you have ,and what cab you have. Regular, super Cab , Crew Cab? Standard or Automatic transmission, 2WD or 4WD also makes a difference. Towing capacity is anywhere from 10,200# - 13,600#, I believe. The information is in your owner's manual if you have one.
Once you find, out do your self a favor and do not get too large a trailer... The most asked "how do I get more power" questions on these forums come from 99 V10 owners who have the lower HP version and too much trailer or too tall a lift or both...
If you size the trailer and loads reasonably you will be real happy with the capabilities of that truck and accept it's inherent limitations... It is never going to drag 13,000 pound trailer up and over Vail pass (11,800 feet) at 50 MPH... But you will be surprised at how much fun and comfort it will provide in the 7,000 to 9,000 pound range
I tow a 26 foot travel trailer (about 5500 with fluids) and a car hauler (with truck on top, about 9000 or so) and have no problems with my 99 V10 with the 4.30 gears.
I like it so much I will propbably go for a newer 3V when this one wears out. But that will take a few more years.
