engine missing upon acceleration

engine missing upon acceleration
Hey,
I have a 99 f-150XLT. It has about 63k miles on it. Lately, when I've gassed her it has picked up speed considerably, but around 40mph it starts to buck a little and miss for about 5 sec or so then pick up where she left off. I have never done the plugs,wires, or fuel filter. I don't want to start guessing and do extra work and extra money in less I know whats wrong. Ive put injector cleaner the tank and ran a tank out and nothing. Any help? Dskarl

After 7 years I'd be replacing the plugs and fuel filter for sure.
It's possible that it needs wires too but I'd save that for after you've tried it with new plugs and fuel filter.
Has the transmission oil ever been changed? A torque converter shudder can do what you're describing too. Usually just changing the transmision fluid will cure that.
