I have an 02 Supercab with 70K miles. It has started to idle rough with the RPMs at 650. When I put it in Park it idles fine at 750 - 800 RPM. I am going to replace the fuel filter this evening, but I wondered if there are other things I should check or clean as well. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
It could also be the IAC valve. I had to replace mine back last fall due to rough or low idle condition.
You can clean them....but it's just better to replace it.
ddrumman2004 is right I have a 98 f150 and a 99 Expedition. The Expedition got to the point it would not idle at all and I cleaned the IAC /Idle Air Control Unit. It is bolted on the back of the Intake two bolts and a plug at the end. But that did not fix it I had to replace it. If you have any Problems just pm me and I will do what I can to help you out....
Thanks for the info. I replaced the IAC valve yesterday but didn't completely fix the idle problem. It helped, but I am still experiencing a rough idle, just not as bad as before. Any other ideas?
Check the tube that runs from your PVC valve to the back of the intake. The elbow just under the IAC is known to get a hole and cause it to run/ idle low or rough. That would be the next place I would look.
I checked the hose and elbow I think you are referring to and didn't find any visible leaks. Any other suggestions on what to check? Any way to check for a vacuum leak without taking it to the dealer or a repair shop? Thanks.
