swaping d44 parts
ok i have 2 f150 4x4s with dana 44F axles (one 77 and one 79) my question is that i want to take all the running gear out of one axle and into another one, when i reintall it can i use all the old shims, crush washers and other items without having to set up the gears?? the parts im wanting to swap are in good condition but the truck needs alot of work and the other truck just needs the 4wd to work. how much of a chance do i have for this swap with the 4wd hardly being used much at all???

When you say axle, I assume you are refering to the housing, swapping housings will change how the carrier sits in the main caps of the housing and thereby changing all
other measurements; all gear sets need to be setup properly per housing.
