Herculiner?

Hey has anyone used this stuff and had good results? I have heard good and bad about this product. Besides using it for the bed, has anyone used it for anything else like trailer decking, or on rocker panels?

I opted for a color coordinated professional spray in liner on my new SuperDuty... two years later she looks just like the day I paid the fellow $400 for it... my old Nissan has the rolled in Herculiner by me for around $100... it is cheesy, cheap, has faded badly in the sun, chipped up here and there, and basically looks bad...

I put the Herculiner in my 99. It didn't last very long. It is as thin as paint but can be layered to make thicker. By the time you do this you might as well have it done professionally. To use for other applications it might be OK. I think it says once you open the can and expose it to air it starts setting up so plan accordingly.

its better than nothing. i have it on the inside of my jeep, its wore off in a bunch of spots. my friend put it in his truck bed, a bunch wore off and he ended up getting a plastic liner to put on top. the advantage it gives him is now his bed won't rust under the liner.

the important thing when you put it on is the prep work.

I went to a Menard's the other day, and in walking across the parking lot I passed a truck that was maybe 25 years old. Frankly, I stopped to admire it. It had a couple obviously replaced body panels, a fair amount of rust and a tailgate that had been been beat to pieces and wired open. The windows were open, partly because I'm sure the driver didn't expect anyone to steal it, and partly because I doubt they would roll up anyway. The bed was half-full of lumber and roofing asphalt cans, and in short, this horse had been "rode hard and put away wet" for many years, and as I was leaving several others stopped to appreciate this working man's truck as I did.

I put Herculiner in this category. Its a poor man's solution toward doing a decent job for a decent price. It oxidizes and turns flat so it ain't pretty, but if you put work into the preparation stage it adheres just fine and the embedded rubber particles grab things like glue. On the other hand, you'll get a better result if you throw more money at it!
