I have an 03 2 wheel drive F-150 with 38,250 miles on it and the check engine light is on. It coded that the the ignition coils were bad. Found one coil dead and replaced it and problem of misfiring still persisted. We removed coil and plug and checked compression on the cylinder that the coil was bad on. I have less than 80psi on that one cylinder. Am I wrong to feel that this should not be happening to an F-150 that is only 2K miles out of warranty? I am really trying to be a ford fan but if they cannot help through their customer service dept. or some other way on this matter. It is going to be hard. Has anyone else ever heard of such a thing. It is currrently at the Dealership to get their estimate on what is wrong and cost to fix. If it is truly a dead cylinder at 38K miles I will not pay that bill without a fight. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Opinions?
Sorry to hear that you've got engine problems already. That's certainly not common.
I would ask your dealer if they can help with the repair at all. If you have a good relationship with the dealer and can prove that you've kept up properly with maintenance on your truck they may be willing to help with the cost of the repair.
Please let us know how it works out for you.
