last night my fuel light came on.
this morning i put 35 gallons of fuel in.
as i pulled out of the station the fuel light dinged and i looked down and it still showed empty.
the fuel needle was moving extremely slow.
by the time i got to work, about 15 miles / 30 minutes, the needle had only made it up to half full.
This has come up in the past. It was said if you fill up with your engine running it is slow going to full, do not remember the reason you could do a search. It you cut your engine off it will come up right away.
The fuel float samples the level every 8 seconds so it will be slow on the fuel needle. Like Aarkie said, turn off you truck and restart it, the needle will rise to fuel level.

engine wasn't running. did a search. didn't come back up quickly after starting the truck using the conventional method.
things to look for otherwise: dirt and other yucchy stuff most likely on the ground portion of the circuit back by the fuel tank.
sometimes mine goes off in a mood after a refuel and she won't reset the gauge until 100 miles down the road or a couple of restarts. However since I KNOW that i just put fuel in and what mpg I usually get I don't worry
the fuel subroutine doesn't have a high priority on the pcm
If I remember the threadcorrectly a solution was to unplug the batteries to reset the pcm
If it doesn't do it all the time don't worry about it. Mine will do it from time to time but always recovers. It has held at a half of tank for a day or so.
