Suspention info

I have a 92 f-150 2wd, and im looking at lift kits again I know its got like a 2.5" or leveling kit already. It has aftermarket radius arms on it, and ive been looking at kits and some kits have extended radius arms and some dont. I read in here that you can use 4wd kits but not the ones with extended arms...Is this true? I honsetly see no differance in the 4wd and 2wd suspension mountinf systems. Does anyone know what length a stock are would be so I canmeasure mine to find out? If mine is extended then I guess that throws the "no extended radius arm on 2wd" theory out the window.

2wd and 4wd radius arms are not interchangeable.

The end of the radius arm where it bolts to the axle are different widths. The rear mounting portion of the radius arms are the same.

My extended skyjacker radius arms are about 15" longer than stock...the stock ones are pretty short. Should be able to tell just by looking, a stock part looks stock (cast) where as something like my radius arm looks fabricated because of its design. Not to mention that its red.

Well my radius arms are definately aftermarket. I think there rancho...thats what shocks were on it and there red and tubular. I just dont know if there extended.
I noticed that skyjacker made a 2wd kit with radius arms but If i already got them then why pay more for new ones, unles there extended because the ones i have are too close to the back of the fender well.

stock radius arms are around a foot long.IF your radius arms rear mount is around the tranny cross member they are extened.

4wd radius arms will not work with 2wd. for the reasons said above.

there are many diffrent company that make extended radius arms for 2wd f1`s.

what do you mean to close to the back of the fender well? As in the tire rubs on the inside when you make tight turns?

No it doesnt rub but its pretty close, And it looks like the previous owner did a little hard wheeling once and one side looks like it hit just a little and bent up the bottom rear corner of the fender well. Its barely noticable but unless he hit a 2 ft tall rock just right it had to be the the tire catching just a little. I dont know it just seems that the wheel is not in the center of the wheel well its off center to the rear more.

I think they meant that the aftermarket upgrades are super long not the 4x4....he said the 4x4 mounting point to the spindle is wider. I think in that case i have extended arms, i have a visual of stockers in my head and i think there different.

Hard to see but here is mine

EgoMan you look to have a rancho kit.The fender getting bashed by the tire like that is pretty common on a ibeam truc that has taken a good hit at one time. Dose the radius arm or the bracket that the arm attach to on the frame look bent?

OTher than that your truck looks pretty normal for a 2wd on 33`s with a 4 inch lift.

Ill have to take another look but I dont think its bent.. It looks like there the stock mounts and locations but I could be wrong its just that the rivets have been drilled and there all bolts now. Id like to get a skyjacker kit and redo it all like 4"...but id like to keep those radius arms and get the kit without them cause its like 450 bucks more for the arms.

Stock radius arms are definitely longer than a foot....they're more like 2-21/2 feet long.

My skyjacker arms are 15" longer than stock and the stock bracket on the drivers side was moved back that 15" where the fuel line ends. There is a little bracket on the framerail where the fuel lines turn flexible and go to the back/top of the engine.

Look at the framerail and see if you can find the old radius arm mounting holes about a foot ahead of where your bracket currently is. If so, you've got extended arms.

The longer the arms the better flex.
