That, I don't know, I couldnt imagine more than $20 from the local junkyard, but who knows? Ask around before so you know what you're getting into.

Inline filter: http://www.wixconnect.com/images/filters/1867_1.gif

Canister filter: http://www.wixconnect.com/images/filters/1962_1.gif

The inline is on the drivers frame rail, inside, by the firewall. Follow the fuel lines and you should see it.

You may not have a canister filter. It should unscrew if you do. I remember in my 87 and up manual (which I use for my 86 EFI alot) it made no mention to the canister filter. My 80 up book (more carb stuff with EFI add-on) mentions it. I had a fuel pressure issue and replaced the in-tank and frame pumps, inline filter and FPR. It was the canister filter that was clogged.

Mine unscrewed pretty easy, kinda like taking off an oil filter. In fact that's what I used, an oil filter strap wrench.

If you've got time, get one from the yard and see if you can get it apart. This way 1. you'll have a spare, 2. if you break it, it won't be the one on the truck

Alright. I have checked the fuel lines all the way from the tank to the injector. Is it possible that a previous owner removed it for some reason or another?

You should have a type 4 fuel system for a 86-89, here is a diagram:

An older 85 F-series had a type 3 fuel system, here is its diagram:

A 1990 and newer F-series had this fuel system, here is its diagram:

Note a 1990 E-series still had the old type 4 fuel system.
These diagrams do not apply to a 460 or single tanks.

It's possible. Did you find the high pressure pump? Look at the line between that pump and the fuel rail. See if you see any signs of where the pump would be. Also make sure it's the ford fuel line (Plastic with clips) and not rubber with hose clamps.
