ball joints
i'm going to replace my upper and lower ball joints on the front of my 1997 ford f-150. i was told you needed a press to get them on. do you need one or does anyone know another way? how hard is it? or would i be better off taking it to a garage? i replaced the lower one's a couple years ago and from what i remember, it didn't take that long. any thoughts or comments?

ball joints aren't usually a big deal, BUT i know from experience the tool you can rent from AZ does not work on an 01 2wd. I own the tool and the way the lowers set you can't use it. the uppers are no big deal though, just be aware that they are the entire upper control arm(at least the are on my 01) and you can't actually remove the ball joint, you just replace the control arm. FYI an alignment is in store once the ball joints are in place and be ready to buy the caster/camber adjusters if you don't already have them. I paid about $100 for the kit for both sides.
