I've got a '93 F150 with a leaky front gas tank. I'm interested in removing this tank. Can I just go ahead and remove the straps holding the tank and cut the fuel line connecting the tank to the fuel system? I imagine I should plug the fuel line once it's been cut. Any advice/tips on how I should safely proceed? I'll make sure the tank is more-or-less empty and do the removal in a well-ventilated area.
This is probably a stupid question...do you mean permanently removing the tank? Replacing the tank isn't a very hard job, even with the bed on the truck. Hell, I put a front tank off a '96 diesel truck on my '89 gas truck, and even with modifying the new tank to accept the old pump/sender, I got the job done in under eight hours.
I wouldn't delete the front tank...IMO, you'll hate yourself for it in the future.
