Hey just wondering, I only have Max speed left on my blower. Anyone have this happen before? Is there something I can do to fix it? or do I have to replace the blower. I only noticed the problem recently, I haven't been using the truck for a while, it worked well before I parked the truck. 92 Ranger XLT 4.0 4x4.
I agree with 87 XLT, as the blower motor resistor pack, that controls it's speed, is bypassed when you switch to max fan speed.
So it sounds like you have an open circuit to, or within the resistor pack.
The resistor pack is a common problem point for your kind of symptom.
Check the electrical connections to the resistor pack & see if you have voltage to it when you select one of the lower fan speeds.
It's located underhood, passenger side on the firewall, in the air box, so air flow keeps the wire wound resistors cool.
If you have power to the resistor pack, then it's likely bad internally.
If you don't have powr to the resistor pack harness, then you likly have a problem between the blower motor switch & the resistor pack.
