I noticed yesterday when I left the office a longer than normal crank to start time. Then today, a reallllllly long one, then next stop, not startie, crank for about 15 or so seconds and ICP fail comes up on the dash. It started about 45 minutes later so I drove it to the dealer.
HPOP connector?
other oil leak on hi pressure side?
I dont believe the wireing harness recall has been done, could it be that?
The big bummer is that I may be tent camping in the desert this weekend which really sux. I have to be there and now I cant tow my trailer, looks like a windy tent camping in the dez.
if your truck is a late build 04 and up i would go for the block on the hpop. hope you have better luck than we do with getting parts, everytime i order one its atleast a week.
I have 03 that started doing the samething this past weekend. Long crank starts but sometimes starts right up. Batteries are good with clean terminals. Have not had time to get to the dealer yet. I cross my fingers every time I start now. I have no idea what it could be. Hope to get it in by this weekend.
how long and what is involved in any hpop work? There is a fair amount of disassembly to get to it, it looks like. What is the typical turn time baring parts backorders? How can I ensure that the updated hpop bracket gets used?
sorry for all the questions, I just feel like a member of the family is in the hospital.
I am also this weekend going to tow my "I can strip it to ~6K trailer" with my F-150 which is going to suk.
the work takes a day and there is a tsb to follow for parts and such. i have waited from 3 days to 3 weeks for parts. in bad situations i put pumps and blocks on but at least i get the truck back on the road.
Well, I got my truck back today, the service rep says "all current TSB's were performed". But after I got back to the office, I noticed that the part # for the bracket was not on the paperwork, just the pump, block, screens, gaskets and such. Should I worry/complain about this? My concern is that the next time it goes out I will be out of warrenty or stranded out in the Desert with my trailer. The truck has 53K now.

3C3Z 9433 AA Kit - Gas intake gaskets
5C3Z 9C968 CA Regulator injection pressure regulator
4C3Z-9B246-A is the block kit. like i said these parts are backordered everytime i needed them. since you were traveling they might just have done this to get you back on the road. i too have had to do this due to a traveler. i did not want to but i had to.
That's odd that the parts are backordered in the US. We Canuks are always last on the list for TSBs and parts availability, and we have tonnes of them. We stock 10 kits at all times, but never have a problem with restocking.
Thanx for the info guys. I found the kit at a couple of dealers around here but it was not in stock at the dealer that did the service. I had called the rep to make sure all the tsb's would be done and even gave the part # of the kit, he assured me all will be done and when it was completed he said that all were done but it is not on the invoice. Ill call the dealer back and see when they want to finish it. I really dislike dealing with the service reps as I havent met any that know spit. Seems there is always a disconect between the rep and the tech.
Just wanted to let you all know what happened to my wife yesterday - She was driving my 05 f250 (20,000 miles) along the interstate, got off on an exit, stopped at the stop sign and the truck flashed some sort of battery light at her and then died. She tried to restart it and no dice - it would crank but wouldn't catch. She had it towed to the nearest ford dealer and I met her there, which was about an hour and a half away from home. Talked to the service dept this morning and the tech had pulled a handful of codes off - service advisor said something about the HPOP probably being the culprit - I'll keep you all updated. By the way the Ford roadside service was awesome - my wife (7mos pregnant) and two kids (4 and 1) were with her at the time and the operator was very helpful, called her back multiple times and made sure they were okay until the towtruck showed up.
glad to hear something positive about our roadside. usually thats not the case. glad she and the kids are ok. hopefully the dealer can get you straightened out and you are good to go.

how long is long. your describing something mine does. 4 sec sometimes 2.5 sec cranks. but usually it's 2.5 when warm and closer to 4 sec when cold. is this a problem. mine has been in for long cranks before i bought it but i thought for diesels it was normal. as i hate to bring it in and have them say nothing is wrong
