tranny crossmember

i have a 48 f1 and i am putting 350 motor and 350 turbo transmission in it and i found all the mounts and parts i need on cpp. my problem is that the old tranny crossmember holds my pedals so i cannot just get rid of it. anybody else don anything like this before. thankyou in advance.

I went with the same engine and transmission combo in my 48. I removed my original crossmember and installed hanging pedals. IMHO they work better than the floor mounted anyway.

I have basically the same combination 350/700R4. I moved the original crossmember back just behind the rear of the 700R4 and fabricated a new pedal bracket using the original pedal/bellcrank. In my case I wanted power brakes to go with the Jaguar IFS. Whatever you do, the structure provided by the original crossmenver for frame rail twist should be retained with either the original trans crossmember or a new one that provides comparable resistance to frame rail twist in that area.
CPP among others sells brackets to mount a new master cylinder with or without the brake booster. My frugal side (the Bobby in me) drove me to build my own bracket. Most buy the available bracket. I have more time into the bracket than I should.

Boy can I relate to that statement. I built the bracket for my booster last weekend. By the time I had drilled all the holes, mocked it up on the truck and tack welded, removed to finish welding, smooth welds , sandblast and paint, I had spent most of the day on just this little project. But any day spent on my truck is a day well spent.
